This is a US MRE (Meal Ready to Eat), which is a plastic waterproof tanned packet chock full of rationy goodness.
Each meal comes complete with main meal, a desert, crackers & spread, spoon, condiments pack (with some Tobasco Sauce) and usually a sweet of some sort.
The contents do vary the meal so the photograph shown is only to give you an idea of what comes with each meal.
These are very handy sized meals and will last upto 5 years under the right conditions. These meals are from a case which was packed in late 2007.
These are pretty good meals at a great price considering the freshness and the rarity.

PLEASE NOTE:
Please discard the dairy shake that is supplied with this MRE. There is a small possiblity that the contents are contaminated with samonella. The manufacturer has issued a directive not to consume this part of the MRE.
The rest of the MRE components are completely safe and can be consumed.
